1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, August 17, 2007
2. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received credit fromthe International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of Urban water Supply and Sanitation Project (UWSSP) and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract for lot 1: supply of DCI pipes, Fittings and its accessories; and lot 2: uPVC Pipes, Fittings and its accessories.
3. The Jimma Water Supply and Sewerage Service Enterprise now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of pipes and fittings specifies in the two lots. The delivery period is 90 calendar days. Partial Bids will not be accepted.
4. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders fromEligible Source Countries as defined in the Bidding Documents.
5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Jimma Town Water supply and Sewerage Service Enterprise; Mr. Tadele Gezahegne tadelgeze@yahoo.com and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 5:30PM
6. Qualifications requirements include an experience of at least two supplies and delivery of pipes and fittings of similar nature and scope of the lots, an average turnover of twice the contract price of the pipe and fittings during the last three years, and a healthy financial standing during the last three years. A margin of preference for certain goods manufactured domestically shall not be applied. Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.
7. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written Application to the address below and upon payment of a non refundable fee ETB 500.00 (Birr five hundred Only). The method of payment will be CPO Cheque. The Bidding Documents will be delivered to authorized representativeof the Bidder upon payment of the non refundable fee stated above.
8. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 14th October 2010; 2:30 pm. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives,who choose to attend in person or on-line at the address below at 14th October 2010; 2:40 pm. All bids must be accompanied by a "Bid Security" of 450,000.00(four hundred fifty thousand) Ethiopian Birr or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
