Supply of Pipes and Fittings

MWSSO/IDA/G-PF/02-2012

1.  This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business Website on August17, 2007.

2.   The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received from the International Development Association toward the cost of Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Credit to payments under the Contractfor procurement of Pipes and Fittings.

3.  The Mekelle Water Supply Services Office now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for Supply of Pipes and Fitrtings.

4.  Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and are open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5.  Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from MekelleCity Water and Sewerage Service; gidab71@yahoo.comand inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm & from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm Monday to Thursday and from 8:30 amto 11:30 pm & from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Friday.

 6. Qualifications requirements include:  Bidder should have the experience on supplying at least two contracts of similar sizes and nature in the last three years, supported with names of clients, value and type of contracts. Information of audited financial statement of the firm for the last three years, Average annual turnover for the last three years at least two times the contract amount. Product ISO authorization shall be attached to the document in compliance to the specification. A margin of preference for certain goods manufactured domestically shall be applied. Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.

7.   A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders directly from Mekelle City Water and Sewerage Service, on the submission of written application to the address below and up on payment of a non refundable fee ETB 250.00 (Two hundred fifty birr) starting from the first announcement of this notice on the Ethiopian Herald in office hours until closing date and time as specified in Paragraph 5.

8.      Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 04-June-13, 3:00PM. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected.  Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below at 04-June-13, 03:30P.M.All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security ofBr.200, 000(Two Hundred Thousand) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
